Struggling to find perfect birthday gifts for him? Sick and tired of the same old, same old? would be a stainless steel hip flask engraved with your special message? Imagine – his own uniquely personalised Hip Flask! This stunning gift can be engraved with your message of up to fifty characters for a truly personal present. The hip flask has a capacity of four ounces and features a secure screw top cap. It’s an original and thoughtful gift, ideal for husbands, partners, brothers or boyfriends! A hip flask is a thin flask for holding a distilled beverage; its size and shape are suited to a trouser pocket. The hip flask is popular as commemorative item, often being engraved.

The Modern Drunkard Magazine describes the engraved flask as the best present one can give “and it better have something in it”. The engravings may be short quotes, the recipient’s initials, toasts or signs of friendship. The engraving may also be a date for a memorable occasion. The hip flask began to appear in the form recognised today in the eighteenth century, initially used by members of the gentry. However, less compact versions had been in production for several centuries. Notably, in the middle ages, there are several accounts of gutted fruit being used to store liquor.

During the eighteenth century, women boarding docked British warships would smuggle gin into the ship via makeshift flasks, created from pig’s bladders and hidden inside their petticoats. Following the act of prohibition in 1920s America, the state of Indiana banned the sale of cocktail shakers and hip flasks. Antique hip flasks, particularly those made of silver, are now sought-after collector’s items.

The hip flask appears frequently in comedy, in part because it allows drinking in inappropriate situations where a bottle would not be found. In the Royal Air Force, “hip-flask” is used as code for a revolver. A novel yet historic birthday gift for him, is it not?

Alternatively, send the man’s man on a 4×4 Extreme course at Silverstone, and give him a day of extreme off-roading and a day he’ll never forget! There is no vehicle on earth to match the extraordinary power of the Defender; it will do whatever you ask of it – and more. Silverstone’s challenging purpose-built, off-road course combines steep gradients, big drops and deep water, demanding his full attention as he navigates a tricky obstacle course. It may be slower than walking pace at times, but precision handling and rock solid nerves are definitely required. He will begin his experience with an in car safety briefing, accompanied by a demonstration lap from the instructor. Then it’s into the driving seat as he puts his new-found skills to the test. He may also bring two passengers to ride with him in the car, so the birthday gift for him gets to be witnesses by friends and or family as well! What a unique and fun gift to give!

For an outdoor adventure that will simply make him laugh his socks off, tell your man to hang on for a thrill ride in a Powerboat Zapcat Blast. When he arrives to participate in his birthday gift, he will be given a safety briefing and kitted out with a drysuit and boots. The action begins by a speedy trip out of the bay by the RIB. Then it is on to the main event – the Zapcat. These twin hulled light weight catamarans, designed originally for surf rescue, are now redesigned for short course offshore powerboat racing. All of the Zapcats are the race ready versions, capable of pulling in excess of 2G in a turn; with a power to weight ratio of 340 bhp per tonne, the acceleration is explosive so get him to hang on tight! The total experience lasts approximately three hours and the experience provides him with almost two hours out on the water on a 10.5m 225HP RIB and a Zapcat. Surely a birthday gift for him to beat all birthday gifts?

Last but not least, give him a great opportunity to try out an exhilarating sport – Clay Shooting. What starts out as an addictive hobby quickly becomes a competitive sport. It’s not surprising that clay pigeon shooting is one of the country’s fastest growing sports. If your man has never shot before, this activity gives him an introduction to the sport of formal clay shooting. If he already shoots, the hour will be based around his requirements and will be tailor-made by the Chief instructor, so that he can use the time effectively to brush up on his techniques.

Now don’t say you never know what to give him as a birthday gift, as we’ve proven that there are just so many Gifts and activities for him to experience and enjoy. Go ahead; put a huge smile on his face…

It is a well established fact that toddlers go crazy for plush toys. I know it from personal experiences, and whenever I have to choose a gift for a toddler, I narrow down my choice to a plush soft toy, more often than not.

Choosing a plush toy in particular can be a brainstorming experience though. How would you know the preferences of a two year old child? To be frank, I mostly go in for the toy that looks the cutest and the most inviting. Still, there are a few pointers you can take care of. For example, if you are choosing a dog, make sure that the child is not afraid of dogs. Again, you need to be sure that the toy you are giving is adorable, say for example, a bugs bunny might be an adorable gift on the face of it, but it the material it is made out of is rough and the toy doesn’t feel good while holding it, then you might face difficulties with the child accepting it.

One thing that we must understand is that for toddlers their teddy bear is the most important friend of their lives. It accompanies them to the dining table, to the bathroom and even to their beds. So, the one most important thing while choosing a plush toy is that it should feel soft. If you are unsure about a child’ preferences and are dubious about your toy’s chances of being appreciated, then it is suggested that you go for a toy that is the softest. The softer the toy, the better are your chances of ripping it off to a child and getting him excited.

One final inspection regarding the toy’s stitching, eyes, nose and loose parts needs to be done before going in for the buy. Toddlers are most prone to swallowing anything they come across, and therefore, it is a must that there are no hanging or loose parts with the plush toy you choose.

Apart from plush toys, I prefer wooden toys for toddlers. There are certain qualities that wooden toys have, and these are particularly why I choose wooden toys over plastic or toys made out of other materials. Three most important reasons for my choosing wooden toys are as follows.

Firstly, wooden toys have a lot of variety to offer, from puzzles to pedal cars, they cover the whole gamut of toy ideas and being environmental friendly, they definitely score over plastic. Secondly, wooden toys are especially useful for pretend play games. Pretend play games and other developmental games help in increasing your child’s motor sensing abilities. Besides, wooden toys are good for building blocks and such educational games, boosting your child’s appetite for knowledge. Thirdly, wooden toys are a collector’s love. They are good for preserving over the years, and act as lovely souvenirs. They look good with your interiors and sometimes, have a sentimental value attached to them, which makes them indispensable.

Overall, there are a lot of other toy categories to choose from while gifting, but plush toys and wooden toys definitely top my list of candidates.

Commemorative Coins As Souvenirs

The popularity of commemorative coins has risen. Often they are given as gifts for special occasions and are kept for many years as souvenirs from a dear friend or loved one.

There is a great demand for commemorative coins among collectors as it signifies a mint date or an important event.

From the 1970’s there were individual commemorative coins in the market each year, but now they come in packages as sets. This type of marketing is largely because of the introduction of the euro and the depreciation of the coins which started in 1971.

Some countries have used commemorative coins for propaganda and Royalty has issued coins to mark special events or occasions.

The Different Commemorative Coins Produced

In 1892 the Columbian Exposition was remembered by the production of the half dollar. This was to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’ discovery of the New World.

The next year the quarter dollar came into existence – this honored the Spanish Queen Isabella who championed Women’s Rights.

In the 1900’s the early coins in silver were introduced – these coins were in honor of George Washington and Lafayette – the next year the half dollar came out and there were legal tender coins to celebrate historical events from 1892-1954.

The Washington Quarter dollar came out in 1932 – this was in honor of George Washington’s 200th birth anniversary and is an extremely well known commemorative coin and enjoys a wide circulation.

Commemorative coins from 1892-1954 were not circulated as the United States had not legalized it for the public so collectors do not pay high costs for these coins.

The Bicentennial quarter came into existence in 1975. This commemorative coin was the second one to be circulated and the half and silver dollars (1776-1976) were issued again and these were considered a special edition for collectors.

Each collector has his own individual taste in coins. Most of the collectors prefer the modern coins, but there are those who like the coins from 1892-1954. The modern coins have different monetary values according to the series.

There have been many series that have come out and there was a suggestion to Congress to release the Lincoln cent to commemorate his birth anniversary. But it is not known whether a commemorative coin of 1 cent will ever be released.

There seems to be a strange pattern in the circulation of commemorative coins. The silver and half dollar coins from 1776-1976 are not really popular with collectors because they are scarce. The coins that are most in circulation are the quarter dollars. It would be indeed something of a speculation if the proposal to circulate the commemorative coin of one cent denomination will eventually come into being.

What Are Commemorative Coins – Commemorative Coins Hold A Meaning

It’s that special time of year; the holidays are here! Folks are putting up their decorations and lights to brighten spirits and the night sky. It’s the time for getting together with friends and family to celebrate and enjoy their company. Not to mention the terrific holiday food! It’s a time for creating lasting memories and exchanging gifts with our loved ones.

Although we all like giving and receiving gifts, choosing the right one can put extra stress on us at a time of year when we already have lots to do. There is already the cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids, and entertaining family and friends. On top of that, we have to find an appropriate present for each recipient. Choosing a great gift in a short time span can really tax the imagination. Here’s an idea for a great gift whether you need a big present or just a tiny stocking stuffer. A gift for all ages, all tastes, and any budget: stuffed animals!

Stuffed Animals for Children

Plush toys are an obvious choice for any child. Toys are the traditional kids’ gift and will be gratefully received. Stuffed animals are a good toy choice since they are fun to play with, but they can also instill an appreciation and understanding of real animals. Some parents may not want their child to have a pet, so a stuffed pal can also be a great stand-in for an actual animal. Less responsibility and cleaning, but still great fun! Younger kids may not be ready for the more sophisticated technological gadgets that are easily broken or difficult to operate, with small buttons or confusing instructions. But stuffed animals are a simple classic that are always in style; stimulating the senses and imagination without a lot of upkeep.

Stuffed Animals for Teens

Teenagers are constantly targeted with new products and consumer goods, but that can make it tougher to pick the right gift for them. Sometimes there are just too many choices. An easy choice is a stuffed animal. In addition to the classic teddy bear, there are lots of different types available. One good plush toy for teens is the giant size animal. There are now stuffed animals that are five feet tall, as big as a person! These make great gifts for a teenage girl. The size alone makes the gift impressive, and it can be a great conversation starter when her friends see it. She could bring it along to college and decorate her dorm room with it. What a great icebreaker for someone living away from home for the first time! It can be both a friend and a way to make new friends, as well as something to hug during stressful times. A king-size stuffed toy can also be unique and different from other gifts for a teen, so keep this in mind the next time you need a gift idea for someone this age.

Stuffed Animals for Adults

Although toys are not traditionally thought of as an adult gift, they can still be a great choice. Lots of adults collect stuffed animals, so if you have to get a gift for a collector, this is a sure thing. Even if they don’t collect stuffed animals, one can still be a terrific present. The current generation of plush toys is far more realistic than the earlier ones and can be used to decorate a home. Stuffed animals are also great for personalizing an office or cubicle. They can add a friendly touch to any décor. If the gift recipient has a vacation house at the beach, a stuffed dolphin or whale could look right at home. A cabin in the woods can be brightened with a stuffed fox or moose. Just match the interior design to the animal.

So if you find yourself stumped for a gift idea or want to avoid holiday headaches, keep stuffed animals in mind. They are a good gift for all ages and tastes. They’re fun, simple, and guaranteed to bring a smile! Keep stumped animals in mind the next time you need the perfect present.
