Dieting has always seemed to be a swear word for those who have or are battling with weight loss. Exercise also seems to be a swear word but perhaps not quit as much. I guess it depends on the individual. While some try to lose weight with neither, others try to lose weight by using an appetite suppressant or some other supplement designed for weight loss. There are even prescription diet pills but one needs to have a doctor actually prescribe them and the thought of side effects for some keep them away. I also suppose that each person is different enough that different approached need to be made for each individual. If your health is a little less than optimistic a good spot to start is visiting your doctor to ensure there are no other underlying health issues that also need addressing. After this I would recommend thinking of some activities that you would like doing, and if none come to your mind, name two different exercise activities off the top of your head and then choice which sounds better to you. An example would be running and tennis. Some people would choice tennis over running so we will go with this, then say tennis
